Default Barbarian

The Barbarian

The Background
The barbarian lives in closely nit groups near mountains and forests. The barbarians worship a God called Gondor which is supposed to live in the earth and lives there awaiting for the barbarians to die and become part of him. Gondor's followers believes that steel was purposly set on this earth for them to master and use in the name of Gondor. Barbarians have a heirarchy similar to that of lions and wolves whereas only the strong rule and annually they prove their strength to reign over their people. This is also why they are somewhat nomadic people living off of the land and they have a strong hate for "city folk".

Through constant fighting and training the barbarian warriors has become unrivaled in the martial weapon arts. Barbarians can wield multiple one-handed weapons. With the ability of "Tough Skin" an inheirant ability to only barbarians they have no need for the use of a shield.

Without much armor barbarians are subceptable to the elements. Although they can inflict massive of amounts of physical damage (receive just as much) they cannot inflict any elemental damage and have a great fear of anyone which whom practices these arts. Elementalist are consider spawns of abaddon in some barbarian tribes and Gods in others.

Skills (some but not all):
Feral Rage: Skill. In a whirling motion you can inflict 34...76 damage to anyone nearby.

Rage of Ntouka: Shout. All nearby allies gaine 5...10 strikes of adrenaline. All nearby foes lose the same amount.

Gondor's Blessing: Shout. Becomes immune to all for of degeneration for 5...10 seconds.

This was just a thought that I had I wish I had more skills or more indepth about everything, but like I said it was just a thought. Tear it apart if you wish or be more helpful and maybe we can actually get a feasable build out of this if ya'll like this.

ok now not a bad idea. but it bears an obvious resemblance with warriors. So maybe explain how they would be different from warriors. Also try coming up with another god name *cough*lotr*cough* and your skill names need changing cause they are already skills. Feral rage I think is a ranger beast mastery skill. maybe.

Rage of ntouka is a warrior elite which bears resemblance to your skill. Minus the losing adrenaline.

what kinda of weapon will they have? not a bad origin where did they come from? can you draw a picture or if your artisitic skills are terrible like mine give us a picture to get the gist of it.

Maybe show the attributes for your character. give like 2 skills and an elite for each attribute. but keep tryin

Yes, agree with above.

Might consider it as an alternative core? Unless add something unique to it, might run into problem as another Assassin/Warrior/Dervish clone.

Default Well thought out i belive

I always wanted to see a barb in gw's myself. I was always thinking that it might clash with the warrior class and their tanking ability - you made a lot of good points and so have the other forum members on their suggestions. the barb natural ability to gain tuff skin like armor is a very good idea - reckless should be the barbs shear style and profession giving them a clear and distinct look and feel - it would also keep them out of the category of a warrior class because they don’t tank they just massacre everything in there way - there only weakness should be with magic or conditions that slows them down - barbs will be good in pvp because they can make tight parties scatter around the map – they will be shear friends to any agro in pve, because of there devastation in tight nit groups - the whirlwind in Diablo 2 for the barb was my favorite skill, it also took some skillful mouse clicking to make it effective. holding 2, two handed weapons - is another thing that will make them different from warriors plus there natural size difference and muscle should prove to give a different appearance then gw's warriors - so I think it should be broken down to devastation, natural resistances, and iron skin - the names can change but the idea and meaning should reflect thos. of course natural resistances will resist fire, air, water (ice), poison, and other magic types plus conditions except cripple and maybe weaken that should not effect a barbs devastation skills or at least some of the barb devastation skills such as the ones that you need adrenalin to activate. (also you can through in some types of immunity skills with this that when hit with a certin element will rise the life of a barb per hit or wile the element is still active) – A barb is a master of any weapon and should not have a brake down of sword hammer or axe – devastation skills will work for all weapons - a barb can find a way to deal with cripple with a secondary class. devastation skills that hit multiple targets and are activated by adrenalin should not gain adrenalin when skill is used but will gain mana for each hit instead (this is an option so anet can balance his skills – I believe there will be a lot of spamming if it is adrenalin). Iron skin of course is the natural armor ability even without armor so expect some barbs to run out in the middle of a fight nude in some missions and quests iron skin can also have a friction attribute so when a barb hits multiple targets he gains mana in a percentage per hit, iron skin skill should also give buffs to defense, dodge and evade wile a devastation skill is in use.

For some reason I don’t see barbs as a tank class even though there fully equip to do so - I feel anyone playing this class wants to see mass damage and plenty of dead bodies on the ground and will play that way - this will also piss some monks off but it’s a barb what did you expect - however devastation should have some notable attributes, shouts can be devastation moves - so i would have a skill shout that could empty any near by enemies mana bar for 1.5 secs or just enof time for the barb to get into a tight nit group with out being slowed down so easily by casters - so they will either run in fear or it will cancel that attack skill or spell that they just hit so the barb can get in their agro and do some major damage, elite shouts could provide party members more mana, life, adrenalin, weapon speed, and armor – a barb should be some kind of shout master, so some of their attack moves should trigger shouts because we all know a barb makes a lot of noise when they are swing around two weapons. Barbs holding shields should be looked down upon but their not limited to just holding dual weapons. Some devastation skills should require dual wielding and I believe this dual wielding will be the biggest distinction of their class. Thanks for posting this class I hope anet is reading your suggestion – and hopefully we will see it in the near future.
